Atomic Bombs: Yay or Nay?
*Warning photos may be graphic for some viewers*
Throughout the past few years countries around the world have been developing weapons of mass destruction, known to us as the mighty atomic bomb.  But are these weapons good for society and war or no? I believe that all atomic bombs should be banished because they do not befit anyone in anyway. The series of photos below will show my perspective of Atomic Bombs.

The photo to the left is a photo of an atomic bomb that has just exploded. The vocal point of the photo brings your eyes to the top of the mushroom cloud but the part of the photo that has the most meaning is the bottom. As much as the top of the cloud looks cool and pleasuring to the eyes, the bottom is the area with the most impact because everything in that “dust” cloud is completely destroyed. Nothing will ever live there or grow there because of the burnt soil and the radiation.

The photo to the below is a photo of a burn and radiation victim from an atomic bomb being dropped in “Hiroshima”. The man or woman, nobody knows for sure because their body was so badly burned, was laid down onto a mat on the ground and left to die. To see that this one weapon can do so much harm to this person’s body is just out righteously disgusting. Since this photo is in black and white we can’t really evaluate the severity of the burns but you can see that this person’s skin is bubbling over and flaking off.
The two images to the right are of Hiroshima before and after the bomb was dropped. The contrasts between these two photos show what the atomic bomb is really capable of. As you can tell Hiroshima was a big town that inhabited a mass number of people. The city was beautiful and vast. However, after the bomb was dropped and exploded, the city now looks bare like a desert. There were only a few buildings left standing, but they were inhabitable. Like the church for example, the building itself is still standing but the roof and the steeple are gone. The bomb left almost everything in Hiroshima in ashes, completely making it inhabitable.
In this final photo, this photo portrait a mother and her child burned to death on the street. The Image brings attention to the bodies laying on the street. These two bodies were caught within the blast zone of the atomic bomb in "Hiroshima". The bomb was so powerful that people within a two mile radius ended up like this, burnt to death. These people were trying to run away from the bomb and in doing so the bomb left them in ash and destroyed builds, as you can see in the top of the photo. These people lost their lives because this brutal weapon.
In conclusion, I believe that this weapon of mass destruction should be banished because the atomic bomb does more than the destroy it's obliterates it and harms innocent people.

  1. Hey josh I liked the topic of your ISU. The pictures you used demonstrated how harmful and destructive the atomic bomb can be were great. In all four photos showed a different aspect of devastation the atomic bomb can cause, which proved your point great. I think you should have touched on the colours in some photos. For example in the first photograph you talked about the colour of the top of the explosion and said when you looked at the bottom you see the dust. But when you look at the colours it shows the brightness of the explosion to demonstrate the power this bomb has and the colour the dust was, the darkness I think is to represent how much destruction cause was to the land. But other then that, I think this was a good ISU. Good work.

  2. I agree I should have touched a bit more on the colour of the photos. With the dust I was trying to show the darkness of the dust and how everything in the darkness is ruined beyond belief. Thank you for recognizing that.

  3. Josh, for starters your choice of topic was great, not just because of the giant explosions, but because this is a hot topic in debates that are going on and taking place on a global scale. I also think that the use of the more graphic pictures allows the viewer/reader to truly gain full understanding of just how devastating and horrid atomic bombs can be. You also did an amazing job at thoroughly explaining your thoughts and view on the subject and made excellent use of describing the destruction of the atomic bombs to tie into and prove your point that they should not be used. Although colour pictures would have really shown the devastation of the bombs and further prove your point, other than that overall was a great ISU.
